Kari’s Top Issues
Public Safety for Our Community
One of the main reasons people come to DuPage County is to live in safe a community. We have seen how weak policies and leadership in Cook County and the City of Chicago has led to crime increasing at an alarming rate. The safety in of our communities will be a top priority for Kari. She will work closely with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and State’s Attorney Bob Berlin to crack down on crime, keep response times low, and build trust between law enforcement officers and the communities they serve. Kari will be an advocate for law enforcement agencies across the county to ensure they have the partnerships, resources and training they need to keep our families and businesses safe.
Improving Students Educations
Quality schools are the reason why many choose DuPage County to raise their children. Kari has proven to be a strong advocate for the betterment of education with her work on school board elections and the passage of a referendum that expanded educational opportunities. Additionally, she led the initiative to bring a tutoring program to disadvantaged students in her district. She also founded a theater company as an extension of her referendum work to help unite the communities and offer additional educational opportunities. Kari will continue to work with our schools and teachers to ensure parents always have a say in their children’s education.
Kari will fight to increase collaboration between the County Board, school superintendents, and the Regional Superintendent of Schools to have as many resources as possible to educate our children.
Fueling Economic Growth
Kari serves as Vice-Chair of the Economic Development Committee and has been actively engaged with Choose DuPage and WorkNet DuPage. She understands that economic growth depends on both attracting and retaining businesses and investing in workforce development. This approach strengthens the tax base that funds essential public services. By promoting thoughtful, strategic development, Kari is helping to ensure DuPage County continues to thrive—with improved amenities, expanded services, and enhanced quality of life for all residents.
Fiscal Responsibility
As a former CPA, I understand the critical importance of being prudent with taxpayer dollars. Families across DuPage County work hard to balance their budgets, and I believe government should be held to the same standard. Fiscal responsibility means carefully evaluating spending, avoiding waste, and ensuring that every dollar is invested in ways that truly benefit our community. My priority is to protect taxpayers by not raising taxes while still funding essential services. By applying sound financial management and accountability, I will continue to make sure that our county government remains efficient, transparent, and sustainable for the long term.
