What People Are Saying About Kari

“I first met Kari after a serious incident in our unincorporated Willowbrook community. Since then, I have seen her remain accessible and present. When concerns arise, she checks in, listens, and follows through. When she says she will look into something, help make a community connection, or show up to support an event, she does. I support leaders based on what I personally see them do, especially for people and communities that are furthest from opportunity. Kari has made herself available to our community, and she has kept her word.”

Jamie Thompson, Youth & Family Service Coordinator and Resident of Unincorporated Willowbrook

“A few years ago, I was helping organize a new multicultural Lunar New Year celebration. As a first-generation immigrant, language and cultural barriers made outreach to civic officials intimidating. There was no long track record behind the celebration; I was simply a resident trying to turn an idea into something real. Kari Galassi answered, showed up, noticed what was missing, and helped connect people. She showed me what accessible local public service can look like.”

All county residents regardless of their zip code are well served by Kari Galassi’s common sense, compassionate, and independent leadership.”

— Lanny F. Wilson, M.D., Chair of the NICU Cabinet

“Galassi gets it done! Kari moved mountains in 2019 as the President for the D86 VOTE YES committee. She organized more than a groundswell of support and sharply rallied voter participation from Oak Brook to Darien and all 5 towns in between, which led to the successful passage of the $139.9mm D86 facilities referendum: the second highest rate of passage for any referendum in the last 25 years. The referendum had failed twice prior to Galassi taking the reins. Kari is an operational genius. She combined her organizational, personal and diplomatic skills to inspire and build a passionate volunteer workforce which then markedly altered voter habits that paid dividends for the seven towns that feed into both high schools in District 86.”
