Meet Kari

The Galassi Family

Kari currently serves on the DuPage County Board since being elected in November 2022. She is the Vice Chair of the Economic Development Committee, the Legislative Committee and serves on the Technology, Public Works and Human Services committees. As a former CPA, she led the charge to improve the county’s budgeting process to increase transparency and enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of the annual budget. An active and vocal presence on the board floor, she brings intelligent perspective, strong convictions, and thoughtful guidance to every discussion, always focused on improving the lives of her constituents.

Kari Galassi has a 20-year record of improving the lives of the people in our community. Kari joined the board of Reclaim13, a nonprofit with a mission to support and heal survivors of child sexual abuse and exploitation. Her passion for public safety drew her to this organization. She also has joined the Dr. Martin Luther King Advisory Committee. She was one of the leaders of a community-powered campaign to renovate the NICU at Hinsdale Hospital, raising $750,000 to modernize facilities and expand access to more families. Kari was the president of the D86 referendum campaign to improve the high schools and fought to improve student educations by managing a campaign for a four D86 BOE members.

The increase in crime in DuPage County led Kari to run for DuPage County Board, and since her election, she has been laser focused on improving public safety in our communities. She will use her background as a Certified Public Accountant to make funding law enforcement something that is always included in the balanced budget.

Kari and her husband Nick have proudly raised three college-aged children—one a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and two currently attending— and are extremely proud of all they have accomplished.
